Privacy Policy

Last updated: 1 September 2026

WarrantyBox is made by J&A Stores LLC ("we", "us"). This policy explains what the WarrantyBox mobile app collects, why, and what control you have. The short version: your receipts live on your phone, scanning only happens when you ask for it and agree to it, we do not sell anything, and we do not track you.

What we collect

Receipt data (stays on your device)

Your receipts, photos, warranty dates, return windows, categories and notes are stored locally on your device. We cannot see any of it unless you turn on cloud backup.

AI receipt scanning (only when you ask, only with your consent)

When you use the scanner, the app first asks for your explicit permission, then sends the receipt photo you take to Anthropic, the company behind the Claude AI, which reads the store, item, total and date off it and sends them back for you to review and edit. The photo is processed to answer that one request; it is not kept on Anthropic's servers and not used to train their models. You can withdraw this permission at any time in Settings and keep adding receipts by hand. If you never use the scanner, nothing is ever sent.

Cloud backup (optional, off by default)

If you choose to sign in and enable cloud backup, we store a copy of your receipt records in Google Firebase so you can restore them on a new device. Signing in also stores your email address and an account identifier. You can delete all of it at any time from Settings, or via the account deletion page.

Purchases

If you subscribe to WarrantyBox Pro, the purchase is processed by Apple or Google. We never see or receive your payment details. We use RevenueCat to check whether your subscription is active; RevenueCat receives a purchase identifier and an anonymous app-install identifier.

What we do not collect

No advertising identifiers, no location, no contacts, no third-party analytics or tracking SDKs. WarrantyBox shows no ads. We do not sell, rent, or share personal information with data brokers.

Service providers

We rely on a small number of processors that may handle data on our behalf: Anthropic (receipt scanning, only with your in-app consent), Google Firebase (authentication and backup storage), RevenueCat (subscription status), and Apple's App Store / Google Play (payments and app delivery). Each handles data under its own privacy terms.

How long we keep it

Local data stays until you delete the app or clear it in the app — lapsing to a free plan never deletes anything. Cloud backup data is retained until you delete your account, after which it is removed from our Firebase project.

Your rights

You can access your data in the app at any time, keep it entirely off our servers by not enabling backup, export it from Settings to ordinary files, and delete everything through Settings → Delete account & data, or by writing to us. If you are in the EEA or UK, you have rights of access, correction, erasure, restriction, portability and objection under the GDPR; if you are in California, you have rights of access and deletion under the CCPA, and we do not sell personal information. To exercise any of these, email us and we will respond within 30 days.

Children

WarrantyBox is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes

If this policy changes materially we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, note it in the app.
